Screen Print
Bugs come in an incredible variety of shapes, colors, and patterns; despite their differences, they can be arranged to form stunning mosaics. At first glance, many insects may seem nearly identical, but when observed closely, their unique characteristics emerge—revealing the richness of biodiversity in even the smallest creatures. Each species carries its subtle distinctions, from the intricate veining on their wings to the delicate textures of their exoskeletons.
I wanted to capture this natural diversity in my work through screen printing, which allows for precision and organic variation. By layering fine, detailed prints, I embraced how ink naturally interacts with the medium, causing slight differences in texture, saturation, and alignment. These small, unpredictable changes made each piece distinct, just as no two natural insects are alike. Rather than striving for perfect replication, I leaned into the beauty of imperfection, letting the process mirror the individuality found in the natural world.

I was tasked with doing a self portrait but wanted to view aspects of myself from a far. Things that are important for me and noticeable when meeting me. Things such as my surgical scar, tattoos, other medical issues, and cultural aspects.

I wanted to do an academia style poster featuring the solar system but take it a step further. Instead of English labels I wrote them in Cherokee and featured elements such as an anamorphic sun figure which is common in Cherokee Folktales. My cultural identity is such an important aspect of who I am.
