Graphic Design is one of the most important things in my life. As a young teen, I was hooked and began experimenting with design/digital art. I would make digital classrooms for teachers and do informational graphics over data for my school and work. Over the years, that love has only grown; whether I’m creating illustrations, motion graphics, or print, design gives me a way to bring ideas to life and connect with others visually. It’s not just what I do; it’s who I am. I know I’ll be working in design for the rest of my life because it’s the one thing that always excites me, challenges me, it is my greatest passion.
My most recent creative output has been motion graphics. I jumped straight in and quickly became enamored with Adobe After Effects' abilities. Making my art and designs come to life with movement was something I had not experienced until using this software. You have to retrain aspects of your brain to make good motion graphics. It's an entirely new way to think, and I'm obsessed with it.
Photography is one of my most intense passions. I don't go anywhere without my camera, and I love capturing moments of stillness. I prefer digital photography but also enjoy experimenting with older cameras and methods. Currently, I do client work in photography and photo restoration when possible.
Painting started out as something I didn't enjoy, but it's amazing what having a professor who inspires her students and always encourages them does. I fell in love with painting and making something new whenever I had time. Design is my passion, but I adore the fluidity of painting.
Printmaking is so intimate and fascinating to me. Every aspect of this process requires rather intense physical labor, and you end up with many copies of the work. I greatly enjoyed everything I made and all the invaluable lessons I learned during this process.
My favorite tool in Adobe Illustrator is by far the pen tool, I think all drawing software should add a pen tool. The precision of the pen tool lets me build each shape exactly how I want, while layering helps me add depth, detail, and bold compositions. Whether creating clean vector portraits, playful graphics, or experimenting with abstract forms, Illustrator gives me the control to make each piece feel dynamic and alive.
While sculpture is not my main creative output, I greatly enjoyed several projects in my ceramics course. Sculpture/ceramics is a medium I will return to someday as a hobby.
